VoltLabs Privacy Policy

VoltLabs ("the App") is developed by Codemagnet ("we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your choices regarding that information. The App is used to set up and control VoltLabs smart lamp devices.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

• Phone number (required) — used to sign in via a one-time passcode (OTP) sent by SMS. We do not use passwords.
• Name and email address (optional) — you may add these to your profile, but they are not required to use the App.

Smart Lamp Device Information

• Device identifier and the name you give your device (e.g. "Living Room Lamp")
• Device state: on/off, brightness, and color settings
• The Wi-Fi network name (SSID) your lamp is connected to — we do not collect or store your Wi-Fi password
• Firmware version and online/offline status

Device & Session Information

• If you enable "remember this device", we store a unique device identifier, device name, and platform (Android/iOS) so you can sign in without re-entering an OTP on that device
• Security tokens used to keep you signed in

2. How We Use Your Information

• To create and secure your account and verify your identity via SMS OTP
• To associate your smart lamp devices with your account
• To relay commands and status updates between the App and your devices
• To remember trusted devices so you can sign in faster

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App:

• Twilio — delivers SMS one-time passcodes. Your phone number is shared with Twilio solely to deliver this code.
• HiveMQ Cloud — a message broker (MQTT) used to relay commands and status between the App and your devices. Each device communicates over a unique, randomly generated topic that is not shared with other users.

4. Data Storage & Security

Account and device information is stored in a secured database. We do not store your Wi-Fi password or any payment information — the App does not process payments. Session tokens are used to keep you signed in and can be revoked at any time by signing out.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your account and device data for as long as your account is active. You can remove a device from your account at any time within the App (Settings tab on a device → Remove Device), which factory-resets the device and unlinks it immediately.

You can also delete your entire account from within the App (Account tab → Delete My Account). This requires confirming a one-time passcode sent to your phone, factory-resets and unlinks all your devices immediately, and signs you out everywhere. Your account is then deactivated right away and permanently erased within 30 days. This 30-day window exists solely to allow recovery from accidental or fraudulent deletion requests; we do not use this period for any other purpose. You may also request account deletion by contacting us using the details below.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
